    Simple comparisons suggest SMC could be 1.5 to 2 times more cost-effective than RTS,S. Caveat: there are LOTS of unknowns about RTS,S that could change this. Over 4 years: * SMC: ~$28; avert 53% of malaria cases * RTS,S: ~$30-40; avert 36% of malaria cases

    This vaccine is a promising addition to the set of tools available to fight malaria, but not a panacea. We expect malaria nets and seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC) to continue to be important in the fight against malaria in the near term.
