What percent of traffic does SEO drive to most sites?
Organic search drives up to 64% of website traffic, according to Conductor. Most searchers click on organic results as opposed to clicking on paid ads, so paying for Google ads is not enough.
Can I just do PPC and not SEO?
One clear takeaway from the Jumpshot/Moz research below is that the click-through rate of organic results is nearly 20 times the CTR of paid results.
So, a strategy that combines SEO and PPC is critical if you want to dominate.
Is social media better than SEO?
SEO drives most of the traffic to websites, so if that is your goal, SEO is better. Social media is amazing to promote content for SEO, and increase engagement and brand signals, so they are deeply connected and it should not be one or the other.
How important is it to be in the Top Ten in Google?
Not very. Well, at least not compared to top 5 where 67% of the clicks are! 6-10 get about 3% more, so top 5 is where most of the Google love is happening.
Are links still important?
Yes, Google fairly recently said that links, content, and Rankbrain (their artificial intelligence algorithm) are the 3 main ranking elements.
What is Google Penguin?
It is the algorithm Google uses to judge if you have good or bad links. It was released in April of 2012 and can still kick your site’s ass.
Don’t let this type of Google penalty happen to you from outdated SEO tactics like crappy links:
How long does my content need to be to rank well in Google?
Numerous studies show that 1,600 to 1,800 or more words consistently outrank shorter, less in-depth content if the quality is equal.
How often do I need to post content?
Once, if you make the most incredible article known to man, but usually at least once a week if it’s half decent. Sometimes publishing over-the-top content trumps multiple weekly blog posts. Doing both is how the sites that get millions of visitors do it.
What happens if I stop adding content and doing SEO?
A rare species of colorful tree frog in the Amazon goes extinct forever. Well, in reality, you just stop getting leads and go out of business; having not realized that fresh content and SEO were holding up your company.
How much does SEO cost?
A lot less than not doing it. $1,000 per month for SEO is usually not enough to achieve top five results. Full content marketing, not just basic SEO, is how you get top five. $3,000 per month is getting you in the game and most larger agencies start at approximately $7,500 per month. Those who do full link building / PR / social / content marketing with SEO have a preference for $10-20k, or more, a month.

Can we do SEO in-house or on our own?
Yes. If you are willing to learn at least 11 distinct job functions — from designer and developer to writer and chaser of search and social algorithms — that can take years each to perfect.
