An estimated 1.1 million people in the United States are living with HIV (CDC ), and nearly 1,700 teens ages 15 to 17 give birth every week (CDC ). In 2017, there were 1.7 million cases of chlamydia, more than 500,000 cases of gonorrhea, and more than 30,000 cases of syphilis (CDC ).
