Automated Credit Transmission

To simplify and streamline your MOC and CME reporting, we are reporting successfully completed CME activity information on your behalf to certain specialty and state medical boards.

Through a collaboration among the AMA and JAMA Network™, the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), the American Board of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS) and the American Board of Pathology (ABPath), successfully completed JAMA Network CME activity and qualifying completed AMA CME activity information is transmitted automatically for the purposes of earning MOC credit/points in ABIM, ABP, ABOHNS and ABPath MOC programs.

The AMA is also collaborating with ACCME on a pilot program with the Tennessee, North Carolina and Maine state medical boards. If you are a licensed physician in one of the above-mentioned states, CME credits for all completed AMA activities offered via AMA Ed Hub™ including JAMA Network CME activities will be transferred automatically to the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners, the North Carolina Medical Board, the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine and the Maine Board of Osteopathic Licensure on your behalf.

While the automatic transfer of completed JAMA Network CME activities to ABIM has been active for some time, during 2019 the AMA Ed Hub has added the following automated transfers:

• JAMA Network CME activities to ABP, NC and TN effective 2/11/2019
• AMA CME activities to NC and TN effective 2/11/2019
• AMA CME activities to ABIM and ABP effective 8/1/2019
• JAMA Network and AMA CME activities to ABOHNS and ME effective 11/1/2019
• JAMA Network and AMA CME activities to ABPath effective 3/1/2020

If you do not wish to have your CME information automatically transferred on your behalf, you can opt-out by updating your preferences.

How it works

Automatic CME credit transfer to specialty boards (ABIM, ABP, ABOHNS, ABPath): After you successfully complete and claim AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for a JAMA Network Continuing Medical Education CME activity on JN Learning™ or JN Listen™, or an eligible AMA activity, the associated CME activity information will be automatically transferred to the ACCME Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS) which will in turn send them to the respective board(s), ABIM, ABP and/or ABOHNS. This is part of the ABIM MOC Assessment Recognition Program, the ABP Lifelong Learning and Self-assessment CME Provider Program, the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery's Continuing Certification Program and the American Board of Pathology Continuing Certification Program, whereby ABIM, ABP, ABOHNS, and ABPath recognize accredited CME activities which have met their requirements for MOC points.

Automatic CME credit transfer to state boards (Tennessee, North Carolina, or Maine): A process similar to the one described above applies to all CME credits successfully earned from any JAMA Network and AMA activity available on the AMA Ed Hub. All completed CME information is automatically transmitted to the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners, the North Carolina Medical Board, the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine and/or the Maine Board of Osteopathic Licensure via ACCME's Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS).

Ability to opt out: If your board ID number is listed under our reporting preferences section, you do not need to do anything to enable these transfers. You can always opt out by clicking on the link below and updating your preferences.

All AMA and JAMA Network™ CME credits earned on or after February 11, 2019, are automatically transmitted to the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners and the North Carolina Medical Board via ACCME's PARS. All AMA and JAMA Network™ CME credits earned on or after October 18, 2019, are automatically transmitted to the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine and the Maine Board of Osteopathic Licensure via ACCME's PARS. Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to:

0.5 Medical Knowledge MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program;
0.5 Self-Assessment points in the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery’s (ABOHNS) Continuing Certification program;
0.5 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program; and
0.5 Lifelong Learning points in the American Board of Pathology’s (ABPath) Continuing Certification program;

It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting MOC credit.
