About CME
The American Medical Association is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The American Medical Association designates each activity for the number of AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit™ listed below. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Journal-based CME, 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit™
Enduring material, 0.25 - 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit™
Physicians who complete the CME course and score at least 80% correct on the quiz are eligible for AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit™.
The mission and educational purpose of JAMA and the JAMA Network Journals is to promote the science and art of medicine and the betterment of the public health. Readers of JAMA Network CME should be able to attain the following educational objectives: (1) participate in the CME activity(s) to gain new medical information on a topic of general medical interest, (2) complete the quiz to assess their knowledge gained from participating in the activity, and (3) think carefully about how this new information may influence their own practices as reflected in the Commitment to Change form. The educational objective for the CME article(s) immediately precedes the CME Quiz.
In 2017, physician subscribers to any JAMA Network journal are eligible for the JN Learning CME program. As a benefit of membership, AMA members are also eligible for CME offered as part of the JN Learning program, which encompasses CME quizzes from all JAMA Network journals.
You can access CME activities from the JN Learning home page or from the article, audio, video, or interactive on which the CME course is based. To earn CME credit, complete the activity that is designated for CME credit carefully and take the CME quiz. You can view and print a certificate awarding AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit™ when you successfully complete the quiz. You may take a quiz as many times as you like until you complete it successfully. Once you complete it successfully, you cannot take the quiz again. Your credits will be tracked in your JAMA Network profile.
Some drugs discussed for specific indications in JAMA and JAMA Network Journal CME articles may not be approved for labeling and advertising for those indications by the United States Food and Drug Administration.
Please see the expiration date provided on each activity. Content is approved for 3 years and if found to be still relevant may be approved for an additional 3 year period.
Final decisions regarding manuscript publication and CME content are made by an editor who does not have any relevant relationships with a commercial interest; thus, the editor has nothing to disclose.
Disclosure information for authors is included with each article.

The Basics
Physicians with current and valid licenses in the United States, Mexico, or Canada are eligible for CME credit even if they live or practice in other countries. Physicians licensed in other countries are also welcome to participate in JAMA Network CME activity. However, the Physicians Recognition Award is available only to physicians licensed in the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
Please check with your local medical board if you are unsure if you are eligible to claim JN Learning CME outside of the U.S., Mexico, or Canada.

Each CME activity is worth a maximum of 1 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit™ per activity. Enduring materials activities are worth 0.5 AMA PRA Category 1 CME Credit™ per activity.
Not at this time. My CME only tracks credit claimed on JAMA Network sites.
If you are signed into your personal JAMA Network account within your institution and your institution has an online subscription to a JAMA Network journal, you can participate in 10 CME activities at no cost to you. Personal accounts are free.
When you engage with an activity in any way, for example, if you start a quiz, read the full HTML article or open the PDF, view part of a video, etc., the number of activities shown at the top of the screen will be reduced. This does not mean that you have completed the activity or claimed credit. You are free to go back and complete the activity at any time.
