Michelle (Yongyuan) Rice

Michelle Rice maintains a diverse practice involving various aspects of patent prosecution and litigation. Her experience ranges from section 337 investigations before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and cases filed in district court, to post-grant proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). Michelle drafts and prosecutes patent applications relating to electronics, telecommunications, software, semiconductors, data processing, and business methods. She assists clients seeking to protect their innovations in Asia, Europe, and North America.

Prior to joining Finnegan, Michelle interned at Microsoft (China), where she assisted in Chinese intellectual property policy analysis, and was involved in discussion with Chinese government agencies regarding the latest developments in intellectual property regulations. She also interned in Beijing at a Chinese law firm and at an international law firm, where she assisted in trademark prosecution and enforcement, and pre-litigation investigations in China.

During her academic study at the George Washington University, Michelle worked as a research assistant for intellectual property scholar Professor Martin J. Adelman, assisting in research on the development of the Chinese patent system.
