I would like to express Red Feather’s commitment to helping seniors maintain their independence within their own homes as truly commendable. By supporting aging individuals in their desire to age in place, you provide not only physical well-being, but also a sense of dignity and comfort. Red Feather's work exemplifies the core mission of creating healthier homes, and their dedication to our elderly community members is deeply appreciated.

My volunteer experience on a straw-bale house build in the Nothern Cheyenne Indian Reservation was one the highlights of my time as a graduate architecture student and one of my fondest memories from that time in my life. The Red Feather Development Group did a wonderful job providing for both the community and volunteers!

What I love about Red Feather is how they train and hire local contractors whenever possible to assist the most vulnerable members of the communities they work in. By using local labor, it supports a resource in that community that can help other families.

I became aware of the work of the Red Feather Development Group in 2015 when they retained me as a development consultant. Although they were a fairly new non-profit, I was impressed with the dedication of their skilled and hardworking staff. I also was impressed with how well they were able to partner with Hopi and Navajo communities in working together to help make housing safe and accommodating. Red Feather does not give a fish, it teaches people how to fish, providing home restoration and home renovation training to Hopi and Navajo families. Housing is deplorable in Native American communities and Red Feather is filling a vital need for thousands of people and also is acting as a leader for organizations working in Native communities.

I have been a donor to RF practically from day one . I love the fact that someone was FINALLY doing something for Native Americans. RF has stayed strong and true to the natives. In helping RF I am also helping veterans which is my second love. RF does what they say they will with no funds disappearing. It’s my intention to continue donating to RF

Red Feather is really helping people who have no way to do projects for themselves. Red Feather updates, remodels, and re-roofs homes that people on the Hopi and Navajo Reservations are living in but without insulation and with leaking roofs. Most of those people barely have subsistence income and could not possibly upgrade their homes. Red Feather is making their lives so much better. Red Feather also does other projects to help reservation Native Americans with sanitation and other necessities. They also hire local Native Americans to do the work, so they are helping people in two ways: jobs and services.

We often travel through Navajo land north of Flagstaff and have stayed many times in Tuba City and Chinle. We have observed the living conditions with sadness. When we saw Red Feather on Arizona Gives, we did some research and decided to contribute. Then a Red Feather newsletter came showing that some of the Navajo people had to burn furniture as heating fuel. We then decided to contribute more and they were able to get a matching grant from a Flagstaff bank so that more work could be completed. We are very happy with their communication and the work that they are doing.

As elders, we were in need to install a system that would lessen the physical burden of chopping wood for the winter by an 80 year old and hauling it into the house during this cold weather on Hopi. Redfeather has been assessing the needs for both Hopi and Navajo reservation elder residents for a number of years and have learned some of the best systems that would work in our living environment. They have brought in good local skills to learn how to install these items and make homes energy efficient as well. It takes local trained technicians to build needed capacity for the future of such services as well as building local partnership with enhanced relationship building. Trust for organizations happen by the relationships that become strong in a community. We give thanks to Redfeather for caring for our communities and meeting some important human needs.

Red Feather really makes a difference in the lives of Native American Indians. In 2009 I worked for a week helping build a straw bale house on the Hopi Indian reservation. I was so impressed by their vison of bigger and better things. Over the years they have taught and empowered their clients to educate and assist others in their community to build and repair homes to make them safe and healthy. It is a privilege to support them.

Enjoyed working on a Red Feather home build site in Lame Deer, Montana 11 years ago. We like the fact that Red Feather has gone to a plan of helping multiple families with smaller home needs than helping just one family with a whole new house. More people benefit from this and hopefully more people in the service area can get involved with helping.

So grateful for all the assistance that Red Feather has given and continues to provide to the Hopi community. They were a tremendous help to the village of Old Oraibiduring the pandemic and continue to reach out to the Hopi people.
Personally I am so thankful for the repairs they were able to make on our home with insolating and closing up gaps that were allowing water to come into the home. This really helped through the later part of the winter by keeping our home warm and the use of less fuel. Askwali

I have been working with Red Feather in recent months to develop logic models (distilling program intentions and supporting facets). I've been very impressed with their dedication. Their staff strive to be as impactful and streamlined as they can be, in order to better deliver services to those who rely upon them. I work with organizations of all kinds and feel it's rare to find the level of passion Red Feather has for their clientele. Not only do they meet community needs, they foster local sustainability in creative ways – improving homes, lives, and communities, while creating ripple effects that are hard to quantify. They are amazing stewards (of donated funds), fantastic role models (in DOING!), kind friends, and inspired leaders who are more than willing to stretch themselves – by embracing methods that enable continual process improvement, in true service to communities they care so much about. I wish every nonprofit was so fun to work with!

The Red Feather Development Group has been a great asset to partner with over the past year while dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. They have provided training sessions on how to build portable handwashing stations to our program on the Hopi reservation. With this knowledge, we have been able to build and distribute the stations to many homes without access to running water and have a supply on hand which we are able to lease out to different programs that may require a portable handwashing station to keep their events safe and sanitary. During recent floods caused by monsoon rains, Red Feather also donated resources to our program to help us assist with homes that experienced roof damage. We are grateful to Red Feather and look forward to future partnerships!

We have been partnering with Red Feather for several years to help provide weatherization services to both Navajo and Hopi communities. We have worked with every member of the Red Feather staff and have had nothing but the most professional experiences. Red Feather is extremely dedicated to helping indigenous communities with urgent housing needs and has been successful at delivering those services to hundreds of families. They have been adaptable to meet the changing needs of the people they serve as new crises have emerged like the COVID-19 pandemic. We look forward to continued partnerships with Red Feather to help those in need.

As someone who has lived in and around some of the communities and areas in the southwestern United States where Red Feather is currently conducting outreach and community service, I have been very grateful to have been made aware of their existence.

Lack of adequate or safe housing and shelter is something that nobody in the Southwest should have to be worry about. This is a nonprofit that is working directly to address this issue within some of the more vulnerable communities around the area in Northern Arizona where I currently live.

Red Feather is a hands-on organization that is actually making a difference for the inhabitants of the Southwestern US who truly deserve to have a healthy home in this beautiful area. Please consider getting involved or donating to them.

The Red Feather staff have hosted multiple Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals (ITEP) intern. The interns learned a lot through their experiences working with the Red Featherer staff. The ITEP staff have also partnered with Red Feather staff and volunteers on creating educational materials for best practices for the use of wood stoves.

During the pandemic the Red Feather staff organized efforts to help communities reduce the risk from the COVID virus by building hand-washing stations for areas on the Navajo and Hopi reservations without running water.

Thanks Red Feather for your efforts to serve communities here in Northern Arizona.

Red Feather has always been about one thing, support where support is needed. From it's beginning charter of helping to build homes, to the current healthy home programs reaching many families - Red Feather is always seeking and learning new ways to assist the Hopi & Navajo Nations. Red Feather stepped up to assist Hopi & Navajo families heat their homes and improve their heating systems when the Black Mesa / Kayenta coal mines closed and stopped providing coal to several local communities in need.
Red Feather stepped up again by constructing and providing water and hand washing / sanitation stands throughout both reservations during COVID in 2020.
We applaud Red Feathers efforts to assist Native populations in need, particularly during the COVID Crisis which has adversely affected both the Navajo Nation and Hopi Tribe.
