Volunteer: Email Marketing Manager

GreatNonprofits (www.greatnonprofits.org) is the leading website for donors and volunteers to find local nonprofits. More than 20 million people use the website to make donations and contribute their talents and time. 

 

Over time, GreatNonprofits has collaborated with several noteworthy organizations such as The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Fidelity Charitable, and Guidestar. GreatNonprofits has received media coverage in the Economist, Huffington Post, and Wall Street Journal. It is led by a seasoned nonprofit executive, Perla Ni, founder and former publisher of the Stanford Social Innovation Review.

 

GreatNonprofits’ Email Marketing Manager is responsible for the growth and engagement of the large base of donors, volunteers, and nonprofits on the GreatNonprofits website. 

 

We are seeking someone who is passionate about email marketing and mining data for insights. This is the perfect fit for someone who is highly motivated and interested in using their skills for social good.

Our goal is to use email intelligently to grow:

 

  1. Donations to nonprofits

  2. Nonprofits registered on GreatNonprofits


Responsibilities:

  • Analyze current email marketing campaigns and make recommendations and improvements

  • Partner with marketing and engineering teams to develop an email marketing strategy, roadmap and implementation plan for GreatNonprofits

  • Develop, write, and test creative copy to spark generosity and raise awareness about nonprofit causes. 

  • Oversee marketing email process from conception through deployment.

  • Manage trigger email campaigns throughout the customer lifecycle to maximize top-rated program participation, donations, or reviews.

  • Carry out segmentation of the database and implement remarketing strategies.

  • Monitor and track the success of email campaigns

  • Continuously improve upon our email marketing processes, including campaign development, email design, segmentation, personalization, and more


Desired Skills & Experience:
 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Marketing, Business or Analytics

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in managing email marketing campaigns

  • Proven track record of leading successful email campaigns; experience with both B2B and B2C marketing is a plus

  • Experience using ESPs from top to bottom, including building triggered email programs, managing lists, executing email sends, and more

  • You get things done: You’re a self-starter, organized, resourceful, and have the ability to manage projects from start to finish

  • You care about the details: You have an eye for design, a good instinct for what email content will resonate with consumers, and triple-check every email before it’s sent

  • Experience with SendGrid preferred

  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS, and familiarity with APIs

  • Creative and passionate about helping nonprofits and communities 

  • Excellent communicator – written and oral

  • Deadline focused with excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Resourceful. Figures out how to achieve results creatively with finite resources
