Thanks and for the laughs and opportunity to get my head right before my call last night. While the surge has not hit us yet, the pre-panic has. And sharing some “vent management” laughs with my RNs helped lighten the mood

Last night during shift change, a group of people stood outside the hospitals waving and showing signs of support and thanks. All of us working in the saw them out the window could not appreciate it more.

Just sharing, because really proud of this work by Matt Nelson of our lab. Diagram to show modifications to our code team to reduce staff exposure and PPE use during a code for PUIs and + patients. (drawing not appropriate scale to show distance)

Quick reminder, while not disclosing confidential patient or hospital information, that patients ARE DEFINITELY recovering from ARDS and coming off vents Our healthcare workers are definitely successfully saving lives

For those asking for something positive during : Some people are putting their Xmas lights back up as a way to spread cheer. My neighbors are participating, and I was for the smile on my morning walk with the dog

Today, our neighbors gave their kids an early Easter present: new bikes. Nearly everyone on my block stood in their driveways cheering them on as they rode up and down the block. These may be dark days, but I am for these light moments and my neighbors.

One form of love is a kind of anticipatory preparedness. Someone prepping dinner before you knew you were hungry. Parents preparing you to live without them. Health systems preparing ICU resources & also planning for how to continue to care for patients if they’re limited. Love.
