DARK MODE !![edit]

hi there,

my question/remark is really simple, WHY a website like wikipedia doesn't have a dark mode ???? trying to check something at night is nightmare, so much white at late hours is guaranteed to mess with the eyes ! at this day and age "dark mode" it's ubiquitous throughout the internet, there is no reason why wikipedia would be left behind.

thanks :)

P.S : it's not that hard to implement, a few line of CSS and VOILA!

good luck and good job to all supporters of the platform ! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 160.179.240.94 (talk)

It is up to your web browser to provide a dark mode. Feel free to set enable-force-dark in Chromium's chrome://flags, or browser.in-content.dark-mode in Firefox' about:config, for example. On an unrelated note, underestimating implementation complexity is popular. --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 09:49, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[]
I made a dark theme in my personal stylesheet by simply inverting html, body elements. It looks very dark themed than using experimental Chrome. You can try mine, but some images you saw might contain inverted things there (except the wiki logo and other files that are not a core or an extension). It's not that bad in my view. —Baran (talk) 06:35, 29 October 2021 (UTC)[]

Directory Structure[edit]

Can someone explain to me the directory structure? Example if I am creating a new page through a URL will it be stored somewhere or only on edit the content is visible. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Komalfartiyal (talk) 09:29, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[]

@Komalfartiyal: Hi, please elaborate what kind of "directories" you have in mind and where exactly (links). If I understand your last sentence correctly, edits that you make to MediaWiki pages in your browser will not be saved until you publish them by pressing the button on the edit page. (PS: Please sign your posts.) Thanks, --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 09:52, 8 October 2021 (UTC)[]
@Komalfartiyal: Your very first edit is the same as creating it. When you create a new page through a URL it will exist in the Wikimedia databases from the moment you hit the save ("Publish changes") button and that will have been your first edit to it. After that you hit the edit button for any future change and those will be edits 2 and above. Hope that makes sense. Mutante (talk) 00:57, 9 October 2021 (UTC)[]
