    Update on Bokona! Mama Huguette says the little female who's missing a toe is eating well and starting to be less shy. Bokona is 1 of 4 bonobo orphans in quarantine care right now.

    Andji update! He's under a year old and Mama Peguy cares for him. The sanctuary has 3 dedicated quarantine bungalows and 4 new orphans so a bungalow usually used only for washing was converted. Updates on the other new orphans soon!

    Please welcome the newest orphan at Lola, Lofuté ! Lofuté has several injuries including a damaged eye. He is in quarantine with Mama Meritha, who says he's he is doing well so far. We now have 4 orphans in quarantine and 12 in the nursery!

    Time to get into a Bonobo mystery. No one is 100% sure where the name “Bonobo” comes from. Some believe that it comes from the word for “Ancestor” in an old Bantu language, while others think it’s from a misspelling of the town of Bolobo on the Congo River. Need to investigate
