Yes, the 2018 comment is no longer applicable. After the change on English, we wanted to make sure that everything would work properly, without unforeseen problems. I would still like to treat these case-by-case, to make sure that the community consensus is clear, and to make sure that the WMF teams that are involved with descriptions are aware of the changes.

@Huji: Yes, if there is community consensus on fawiki, and we talk about the deployment process with them, then we are willing to support using the shortdesc magic word there.
Apr 26 2021
To clarify, we will support the community consensus that comes from the discussion and voting.

Hi, thanks for your patience. If the current community discussion comes to consensus to switch to just pulling short descriptions from German WP, then we are willing to follow the same steps that we did with English.

Hi all, thanks for the ping. I hadn't seen the discussion on German WP, so the request came as a bit of a surprise. Now that I've read the discussion, I understand the concerns that people are raising there.

I approve Sam's request.

I approve Peter for this, thanks.

@eprodromou @sdkim Can you check in with @aezell about this? They're hoping to have a quick turnaround if possible.

Hi everyone, I posted a response on the English WP Village Pump (WMF) page, saying that we are going to be working on this ticket. There are still a few things to work out, so there's no firm date. You can follow along by watching this ticket.

Joe: It's totally okay to leave logged actions out. We can revisit this decision post-release, if we hear from users that they really want logged actions. I think it's likely that we won't get many post-release feature requests.

@kzimmerman Thanks for the heads up. I'm glad Neil's getting this task done, and that you all are working on making things better for the future. :)

@Niharika -- is this something that you considered when you worked on edit summary pings?
Dec 13 2018
Hi @Lionel_Scheepmans -- I have some good news and bad news about your request.
Dec 11 2018
Yeah, this looks good. A progress bar will be helpful, much better than the current throbber.

@Adithyak1997, it's possible that there's a misunderstanding about what this template does. What are you hoping to do with this template?
We're not going to enable this magic word on any other wikis right now. People should update the short descriptions on Wikidata.

Hi @CKoerner_WMF - yes, I scheduled a meeting for Friday Aug 31st.

@Niharika, can you talk to Sam about this? Maybe CommTech can do an investigation.

I give my blessing to remove the toolbar.

I posted a message on the Template:Short description talk page:
I can do the communication here. The fact that the template is actually breaking specific pages will get people's attention. Do we know exactly what the template is doing wrong?

Hi @Yair_rand: Thanks for raising the alam. You're right, we don't want any of those outcomes, and there's no superprotect coming, on this or any other product release.

Thanks, Jon. So this is the most important follow-up:
