Electrical Safety
Do not open up or disassemble your Portal for any reason, even when unplugged.
Select an appropriate power source for your Portal AC adapter:
- Confirm that your electrical outlet provides the type of power indicated on the power supply unit in terms of the voltage (“V”) and frequency (“Hz”). Your Portal AC adapter works when connected to a rated AC power source with 100V to 240V AC at 50Hz to 60Hz. If you are unsure of the type of power supplied to your home, consult a qualified electrician.
- Do not use non-standard power sources, such as generators or inverters, even if the voltage and frequency appear acceptable. Use only AC power provided by a standard wall outlet.
- Do not plug multiple electric devices into the same wall socket with Portal. Overloading a socket can cause it to overheat and may result in a fire.
- Do not touch your Portal or any wires connected to your Portal during a lightning storm.
Only use the included AC adapter with your Portal:
- If the AC adapter or cord appears damaged, discontinue use immediately and contact customer support for a replacement power cord.
- Do not use the Portal AC adapter with other devices.
- Do not pull on the cord to unplug. To disconnect the Portal from power, pull at the plug.
- To reduce potential trip or entanglement hazards, arrange any cables and cords so that people and pets are not likely to trip over or accidentally pull on them as they move around or walk near the Portal. Do not allow children to play with cables or AC adapter.
Keep Portal and its AC adapter away from water and other liquids.
- Do not use your Portal near sinks, showers, pools, or other areas where it might get wet.
- Do not spill food or drink on your Portal.
- Do not attempt to dry your Portal with an external heat source, such as a microwave oven or hair dryer.
Keep Portal away from heat sources such as space heaters, heater vents, radiators, stoves, or other things that produce heat.
Setting Up and Maintaining Your Portal
- Portal is for indoor use only.
- Portal is meant to be used as a table-top device. Set up your Portal on stable flat surfaces only. Improper placement of Portal or its cord could cause Portal to tip, which could lead to injury, damage Portal, or both.
- Your Portal may get warm during use, which is normal. Set up Portal in a well-ventilated, climate-controlled location.
- Before moving your Portal, shut off and unplug. Carry by the base. Lifting Portal by the display could damage Portal or its display.
- Clean your Portal with a soft dry cloth. Do not use abrasives or harsh chemicals.
- Clean only the outside of the Portal. Do not attempt to open up Portal, which could cause electric shock or other injury. Do not attempt to clean inside any ventilation or other openings.
- Do not use compressed air to clean the Portal.
- Using your Portal with non-approved third-party accessories or equipment may affect your Portal’s performance and could cause serious injury or death. Damage from third-party accessories or equipment may void your Portal’s limited warranty.

Other Safety Considerations
- WARNING. Choking Hazard. Camera cover is a small part. Keep away from children under 3.
- Children should only use Portal under adult supervision.
- If you have any medical condition or experience symptoms that you believe could be affected by Portal or flashing lights (for example, seizures, blackouts, eyestrain, or headaches), consult with your physician prior to using Portal. Stop using Portal immediately and consult a doctor if you experience serious or persistent symptoms.
Using Your Portal Around Other Electronic Devices
- WARNING. Your Portal contains magnets and emits radio frequencies that may interfere with personal medical devices (such as pacemakers, hearing aids, and defibrillators), consult with your physician or the manufacturer before using Portal. Failure to do so may lead to property damage, injury, or death.
- Portal generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency (RF) energy and, if not used in accordance with its instructions, may cause interference to radio communications and electronic equipment. External RF signals may affect improperly installed or inadequately shielded electronic operating systems, entertainment systems, and personal medical devices. While most modern electronic equipment is shielded from external RF signals, if in doubt, check with the manufacturer.

To mount on a television or stand, follow instructions on Quick Start Guide and ensure that Portal TV is secure. Failure to confirm that the positioning is secure could result in instability, and could lead to injury or damage.
- Ensure that all cable connections between Portal TV and your television or ethernet adapter are secure, with the ends fully plugged into Portal TV and the television, ethernet adapter, or both. Failure to properly secure the cables could lead to injury or damage.
- Your Portal TV may get warm during use, which is normal. Set up Portal TV in a well-ventilated, climate-controlled location.

Battery safety
Your Portal TV remote contains AAA batteries.
- CHOKING HAZARD. The remote is not a toy. It contains batteries, which are small parts. Keep away from children under 3.
- Keep new and used batteries away from children. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children until it can be repaired.
- Keep batteries in original package until ready to use. Properly dispose of used batteries promptly.
- The batteries in the remote are user-replaceable.
- Do not mix old and new batteries. Replace all batteries of a set at the same time.
- Do not disassemble, pierce, or attempt to modify batteries.
- Risk of fire. Batteries can explode or leak if installed backwards, disassembled, charged, crushed, mixed with used or other battery types, or exposed to fire or high temperature.
- Remove exhausted batteries from product promptly. Remove batteries before storage or extended periods of non-usage. Exhausted batteries may leak and damage your controller.
