RYA Scotland Youth & Junior Championships

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in a time of uncertainty for us all.

We are still working towards running a restricted Youth and Junior Championships on the 26th & 27th September 2020 at Largs Sailing Club.  This year the event will not have youth classes or windsurfers, to enable us to run the event in a Covid-secure manner. It is likely that this event will look a little different to what we are all used to, but for Optimist and Topper sailors we look forward to getting you on the water for a weekend of fun racing activity. Please make sure that you read the Notice of Race carefully as this will give you more details about how we will be intending to run the event.

Learning and racing in a fun, friendly yet competitive environment is the key aim of this event. The Youth & Junior Championships is designed to encourage sailors of all racing abilities onto the race track to compete against each other in a 2 day racing regatta.

In normal circumstances we would aim to include all RYA pathway Youth and Junior classes split over 3 courses. In addition to this we would run a regatta fleet which includes coach support and a focus on enjoyment and development for those new, up and coming racers of the future.  This year we are running a restricted event for Optimist and Topper sailors as detailed on the Notice of Race on the Event page.  Given that we are not able to run the youth classes with the junior classes in our Youth and Junior Championships, the youth classes are invited to a Combined Weekend Academy to take place the weekend before ie. 19/20 September 2020.
