Welcome to the Hythe Sailing Club Website

Welcome to the website of Hythe Sailing Club, based on Southampton Water on the outskirts of the New Forest in Hampshire.  We are a family friendly club which is run by its members for it members.  We have an active Dinghy, Cruiser/Yacht, Kayak, Radio sailing and Social programme – whether you’re interested in racing or something more relaxed!  We welcome new members and have this year removed the joining fee and adopted an optional direct debit system to pay for Membership fees and now Mooring and Pound Fees over 1o months making getting onto the water more accessible and affordable for all!

HSC Kayak Club

HSC Kayak Club is open to all members to take part on the water with their own or Club Kayaks, the section has been very popular since its start in 2019 and the club hope to run events away from the club in the future.  (Please note Crew Memberships are able to book to use Club Kayaks but full members have priority for there use)

Sailing

We have an active racing programme for dinghies and yachts as well as a series of cruiser rallies.  Many of our skippers are very happy to have novice crew on board and this makes an excellent way of learning the ropes if you’re new to sailing

Our Clubhouse

Our clubhouse is at the heart of everything we do at Hythe Sailing Club.  Whether it’s sharing a pint with your fellow competitors after a hard evening’s racing or a more formal dinner event such as our annual Commodore’s Start of Season Fitting Out Supper, you’re assured of a warm welcome and cool drink.

Training

At Hythe Sailing Club there is plenty of opportunity to get on the water to learn the ropes.  There is availability for members to take RYA Training courses of all levels on and off the water for Dinghies plus discounts on courses for Skipper and Yachtmaster theory and other RYA based courses with Jolly Roger Sailing whose courses can be found here:  https://www.jollyrogersailing.co.uk/

Virtual Regatta Online Racing

Due to current circumstances Hythe Sailing Club have adapted to the club closures or restricted access by encouraging members to take part in online racing alongside and with other clubs.  Currently HSC host a race every week on the Thursday evening for members and other clubs to join in.  This has been so successful that it is being adopted as a pastime for members to take part in when the weather is not so good after the current COVID19 situation eases.

Radio Controlled Sail Racing (Class DF65)

Hythe Sailing Club have a sail racing section for the Dragonforce  DF65 and the group race approximately 12 times per year with a usual three races per session. There are plans in the future to visit other clubs and locations to race.
