Alipak Banerjee

Alipak is a Leader in the International Dispute Resolution and Investigations Practice and co-heads the International Investment Arbitration practice group at the research-based international law firm, Nishith Desai Associates. Prior to joining Nishith Desai Associates, he worked under Professor Martin Hunter at Essex Court Chambers, London.

Alipak is known for his analytical and solution driven approach. Some of his works have been shortlisted by the Financial Times for the Financial Times Innovative Lawyer Award in Hong Kong.

He represents clients in a wide range of services, with a special focus on cross-border and complex litigation and international commercial arbitration. He has experience of representing clients in institutional (SIAC, LCIA, ICC) and ad hoc arbitrations and litigation proceedings in various jurisdictions, including India, Singapore, Hong Kong and London. He has advised and represented clients engaged in media & entertainment, oil and gas, energy, manufacturing, funds and financial services sectors.

Alipak regularly speaks at conferences, has authored legal articles, which have been published in many leading newspapers and legal journals. Alipak has assisted in editing the 6th edition of Redfern and Hunter on International Arbitration, Oxford University Press. He has also contributed the India chapter in the World Mediation Guide published by Clifford Chance. He also frequently teaches at leading Universities in India.

He is admitted to the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa and is an Honorary Overseas Member of the Commercial Bar Association, UK (COMBAR), Supreme Court Bar Association, New Delhi. He is also a part of the Steering Committee at Young MCIA, and a member of YSIAC, YIAG and Young ICCA. The RSG India report, published in 2017, recommends Alipak as ‘excellence’ in corporate litigation.
