I learned about the Gabriel Project Mumbai when I went on an adult leadership mission to India a few years ago. I came home telling my children stories about the children and the women and the families who are helped. Now my children have taken the stories and made them their own! They tell many of their friends and family members about how it costs so little to feed a child in the slums. They think about how we have access to clean water and now the children in India do because of GPM. We live in New York City, far from the rural villages of India. I often show my children updates and photos of the work being done there. We are impressed by the clean and well staffed health and dental centers as well as the groups that go to visit from around the world. It truly is an oasis in the middle of the slums. This is G-D’s work being done right here on Earth.

Gabriel Project Mumbai (GPM) could have stopped at simply improving children’s education in the slums. Then they could have stopped at improving nutrition. They could have stopped at improving healthcare, and getting access to clean water, but no, GPM doesn’t stop. GPM continues, every single day, to improve every aspect of life of women and children in Mumbai. This year I saw the amazing work they’re doing on ground in Kalwa and Ashte, helped them teach in their classrooms both urban and rural, as well as watch their new medical center they opened in the slums in action, giving out medicine and care to sick mothers and babies. GPM is improving the lives of so many kids. These kids get to have a better life because of the care GPM provides them, and I couldn’t be more proud witness their hard work in action.

Every person deserves access to an education, health care and fresh food and and GPM’s community programs bring these essential resources to so many. Their efforts bring hope to people living under some of life’s most challenging circumstances and my time as a volunteer has undoubtably shaped me into the person I am today. I can’t say enough good things about this inspiring project!

Volunteering with GPM and learning about their immense work has been one of the most fulfilling experiences in my life. In my opinion, what makes GPM a unique nonprofit organization is the holistic approach they are taking to global development. Meeting the local communities that GPM works with made me appreciate the great impact GPM has on their lives. Their focus on sustainability transforms the lives of hundreds of families in the slums of Mumbai and nearby villages.

Working with GPM has been one of the most rewarding experiences and one that shaped my life. They invest so deeply in the slum community and the individuals they strive to serve. The slum community drives their work and priorities. GPM also invests in their volunteers and allows their creativity and unique contributions to lead change and growth.

This incredible project helps the young survive the worst human living conditions while also giving them the knowledge and skills to escape and succeed in better parts of the world - just a few miles away. The project gives them food, it gives them education, it gives them HOPE. Incredibly simple, incredibly effective, incredibly well-run. Every dollar donated has the power of a hundred.

The Gabriel Project Mumbai (GPM) is performing miracles daily with the work that they are doing. I have spent time on two different trips to India with Jacob and his staff in the slums and I have been in awe of the life changing nature of their mission. They have a comprehensive approach to change- and they do it in a beautiful , humble, culturally-aware and respectful way. I am going back again at the end of this year to spend time with GPM, and I cannot wait to see, first hand, how much more they are accomplishing.

This summer i went with GPM to Mumbai and had one of the most educational experiences of my life. The work we did, the people we met and the things we saw, everything affected me in a different way and all of it altered how I looked at different parts of life. I am so grateful for my experience with GPM!

GPM is one of the most innovative and creative organizations I had the honor of coming across. Their unique approach to tackle various issues at once; education, nutrition, health and economic empowerment with a gender approach is a model that should be appreciated and replicated. Wishing you more growth and may the future bring you closer to your goal.

I’ve been working side by side with Jacob, Kenneth and the GPM staff since 2013 and they are doing life-saving work like no other organization I’ve seen in India. They meet the community where their needs are: nutrition, literacy, employment, low cost and free medical care. It’s an absolute pleasure to work with them and support them. I can’t wait to see their continued success!

I would like to introduce you to a volunteering organization that I took part of on my big trip to India after the army. Gabriel Project Mumbai is a volunteering organization in the slums in Mumbai. When I got there I was in shock! So many people, colors and mostly poverty. My friends and I lived in a condo in Thana, a city close to Mumbai and every day we drove with a van that took us into the slums. It is impossible to describe the happiness and bright eyes of these sweet children as soon as we entered their classrooms (which is a small eluminum tent). Even though we did not understand their language and they didn't understand ours, with our amazing translator we were able to comunicate with them and get close to them. With just the warmth and love between us and them was enough to make a real change. The project was two and a half months and during which our goal was to open their eyes to the great and wonderful world of opportunities and experiences. We brought in people from outside professionals (doctors, architects, etc.) and told them about our personal world and did activities on different cultures and countries. I can safely say that it was the best experience I had in life and regardless of the amazing and unique India, I'm so glad I was able to incorporate volunteering as well, I got to know the real India behind the landscapes and treks. GPM is like a family and everyone who joins very quickly will be a part of it.

My wife and I (physicians) and our 5 kids volunteered with GPM over the Summer assisting in schools and clinics in Mumbai and Ashte village. Was a great organization to work with.
