Sabahattin Bayrak isimli öğretmen hakkında madde oluşturmak istiyorum. Ama yeni olduğum için sistem müsade etmiyor. Yardımcı olur musunuz ?

Use rev_introduced for SVN revision

Use sha_introduced for a git SHA

Use change_introduced for a gerrit change

Shirayuki (talkcontribs)
Ciencia Al Poder (talkcontribs)

Well, that seems to be a commit done in git that's not present in gerrit (does it predate the use of gerrit?). However, the template is pointing sha_introduced to gerrit instead of phabricator/gitiles.

I guess the template should point to phabricator instead

On the main page, the left column framed in gray and the right column touch each other.

The probleme is here with Timeless :http://www.wiki-shangri-la.org/index.php/New_Main_Page_2021

but not here with Vector : https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikip%C3%A9dia:Accueil_principal

How to create a space between the two columns. thank you so much .

176.145.73.159 (talkcontribs)

add in MediaWiki:Common.css

/* Classes pour les colonnes des portails */
.portail-gauche,
.portail-droite {
	box-sizing: border-box;
}
.portail-gauche {
	float: left;
	padding-right: 1.2rem;
}
.portail-droite {
	float: right;
}
@media (max-width: 981px) {
	.portail-gauche,
	.portail-droite {
		float: none;
		width: auto !important;
	}
	.portail-gauche {
		padding-right: 0;
	}
}

It is ok

I propose that this be switched to wikitext content model for easier use by both new and existing contributors. Thoughts?

Jdforrester (WMF) (talkcontribs)

I'd rather not move to a known-bad system. Let's wait for the DiscussionTools system to be on by default before we make any changes.

Leaderboard (talkcontribs)

I think Flow is doing OK personally here.

Majavah (talkcontribs)

I personally like wikitext more than Flow, but I'd rather not make this central page use a different system than other similar pages.

Pppery (talkcontribs)

I agree with Majavah. Manually setting high-visibility pages to wikitext while keeping the default content model for talk pages as Flow sends a confusingly inconsistent message.

DannyS712 (talkcontribs)

Well, personally I don't think the default should be flow, but I figured it would be easier to get consensus to change a singe page than to change all of them

Wargo (talkcontribs)

Flow is better for such discussions.

Should this page be renamed

Bawolff (talkcontribs)

I don't have a better idea for a name, but having "Current issues" on the sidebar, suggests a place to report current issues/bugs about MediaWiki, not to have site discussion.

Perhaps Village Pump would be better. Its wiki specific jargon, but at least its unlikely to confuse people just wanted support for MW.

Koavf (talkcontribs)

Agreed. I think this is a confusing mismatch of name and function.

Jdforrester (WMF) (talkcontribs)

Village Pump works for me.

1234qwer1234qwer4 (talkcontribs)

Yeah, I agree.

Jdforrester (WMF) (talkcontribs)

We might have a difficulty moving the page given the number of posts on it, however. :-(

Skizzerz (talkcontribs)

Well there's an easy way to find out, and that's by trying it :)

I agree that Village Pump works better as a page title.

1234qwer1234qwer4 (talkcontribs)
Majavah (talkcontribs)

I'll try to move, hopefully nothing breaks.

Majavah (talkcontribs)

Yes Done. MediaWiki did not let me leave redirects behind for some reason so I have re-added those manually.

1234qwer1234qwer4 (talkcontribs)

Might be related to the page's content model. Thanks anyway.

1234qwer1234qwer4 (talkcontribs)
Majavah (talkcontribs)

I think I got the most important uses fixed. I'll try to clean the rest up later.

APaskulin (WMF) (talkcontribs)

Thanks for making this change! Can we switch to "Village pump" (lowercase "p") to match most of the other page titles on the site?

Jdforrester (WMF) (talkcontribs)

As it's a proper noun, I think it should be with the current capitalisation. (Also all the other ones should be updated back to being proper case, as they are standard MediaWiki terms; was there a discussion about changing them?)

Skizzerz (talkcontribs)

Sentence case is generally the accepted way to capitalize page names here. That said, what other ones are you referring to?

Jdforrester (WMF) (talkcontribs)

See the sidebar, where the link to RecentChanges is "Recent changes" etc..

Skizzerz (talkcontribs)

That's MediaWiki's default; the link there is unedited. See MediaWiki:Recentchanges -- page doesn't exist so it inherits the default from i18n/en.json. All of the default sidebar links are sentence case.

Jdforrester (WMF) (talkcontribs)

Huh, yes, and has been that way since at least 2006 from by git diving. Fascinating.

APaskulin (WMF) (talkcontribs)

I see "village pump" as a common noun: "set of pages used to discuss the technical issues, policies, and operations of a Wikimedia wiki" (Wikidata). Looking at the Wikidata entry, most village pump pages on other wikis use sentence case, as well as similar pages like "Reading room", "Water cooler", and "Beer parlour".

Jdforrester (WMF) (talkcontribs)

Yes, the generic use of a proper noun is often a common noun ("five kings"), but the specific instance would still be a proper noun ("the King").

However, as @Skizzerz says, we've apparently always been wrong in this way, so let's just leave it like that. :-) Fixed.

Leaderboard (talkcontribs)

I personally think this change could have been advertised better, as it turns out I completely missed this discussion.
