Over the past year, we've suffered so much. Covid-19 made almost everything worse at work. Harassment and hostility, work pressure, and the strain of a pandemic, along with trauma from ongoing racism, sexism, and other discrimination, have taken a toll on mental health 1/

Amazon flex drivers are starting to receive some money from the $60 million FTC settlement with Amazon after I reported @ the LA Times that the company withheld tips from its contractors. From a former Flex driver/source:

I don't know what is gonna happen in VA tonight but there is a palpable excitement among certain ostensibly neutral reporters and analysts whenever some white identity politics shiny object seems to be effective politically.

There is quite literally a Black tax. This country doesn't know how to exist without unfairly extracting labor and wealth from Black folk. But go ahead and use Black votes to pass infrastructure deals that do nothing to lessen this suffering. Increase police funding too.

Map showing population density of Black folk in the US, concentrated in the South and East Coast.
Map showing cities and towns with more than 10% of their revenue from fines and fees.

On Facebook manipulating humanity to shape lives and deaths: "It is horrifying that a corporation that has been proved to inflict so much damage has decided to fix nothing and to in fact expand its operations to usurp people’s lives even more."

I wish editors would devote less space to culture war bullshit, and more to the fact that, in New York, elderly, immigrant taxi drivers have spent the last ten days starving themselves in front of City Hall as a last ditch effort to save themselves from debt peonage.

Kneeling for Black lives matter, but funding the police. Clapping for essential workers, but voting down the $15 minimum wage. Talking about supporting working families, but cutting programs for working class people. Always the symbolic gestures, never the material change.

What was in my minivan's trunk yesterday? 479 pounds of rice. Each grain represents one acre of federal land that fossil fuel companies have leased but not used, yet they're asking for more. I asked a Big Oil rep: how much is enough for you?

Stop humanizing billionaires. Elon Musk isn't just some average guy. Do you have any idea how much money $253 billion really is? If someone were to earn $200,000 every single day since Jesus was born, they still wouldn't have as much money as he does right now. That's not normal.
