Is it for me?
If you enjoy being out in the fresh air and exploring new places with friends or family then motor cruising is for you. You can travel larger distances quickly and easily, stop to anchor for a swim or lunch and leave the daily stress of everyday life behind on the shore.
How can I try?
You’ll find plenty of companies where you can charter a motor boat and skipper whether it’s for the afternoon, a weekend or a holiday, and they’ll provide everything you need to get on the water no matter what your experience.
The more skills you have the more able you’ll be to explore and therefore taking an RYA course is a great place to start. RYA Start Motor Cruising and Helmsman course are taught by qualified instructors and are perfect for getting to grips with the basics. You can take a course alone, or with your partner or family (if your children aren’t too young).
How much does it cost?
Although it can be pricey to buy your own motor cruiser from new, you can easily find pre-loved boats of all sizes and for every budget. Search online or visit a marine broker.
