eSailing- Virtual Regatta

eSailing on Virtual Regatta - free to play

eSailing has been hugely successful during the COVID-19 lockdown and has kept racing going for so many individuals and clubs around the UK.  As restrictions are eased, we are sure that eSailing will continue to be a fantastic way to have some off-the-water fun with friends and fellow club members on the virtual race courses.

For individuals

You don’t need to pay to use Virtual Regatta. It’s as simple as visiting their website from a laptop or PC or downloading the app on a smartphone or iPad and clicking ‘play now’ on either the inshore or offshore game. You can then enter the game and learn how to use it and compete against others all around the world. If you want to compete and keep your score, you’ll need to create a login and a user profile. You also have the option of entering the eSailing World & GBR National Championships.

For clubs, classes, training centres and other groups

Throughout these challenging times, clubs, classes, training centres and groups up and down the country have been organising successful virtual racing with their members and customers whilst adhering to the Government guidelines. Now that lockdown restrictions are starting to be relaxed and we can get back on the water, don't forget you can still engage members and customers with eSailing and virtual racing as a great way to connect off the water and socialise.

2020 eSailing Nations Cup - a Nation v Nation knockout challenge

Congratulations to the British team for winning the 2020 eSailing Nations Cup!

World Sailing and Virtual Regatta, the leading digital sailing platform, launched the eSailing Nations Cup 2020 in July, a nation versus nation knockout challenge to crown the best eSailing nation in the world.

Open to nations who have registered for an eSailing National Championship, the eSailing Nations Cup saw thirteen national teams of ten participate in mass fleet races and then an initial knockout round before advancing to Quarter and Semi-Finals. The initial ranking round took place on Saturday 10th October with the GBR team taking a brilliant second place. This top 3 result saw them straight through to the quarter finals where they took on Germany. Following this win team GBR had a tense battle with the third seed Italian team, winning 5-4 putting them against the favourites, Spain, in the final. After a great start in the earlier races put Great Britain ahead 4-1 it was team captain Deja Vu that won a photo-finish one v one to seal overall victory.

The RYA selected 10 highly skilled and talented eSailors to represent GBR using the World Sailing's 2020 RYA eSailing Nation’s Cup GBR Team selection criteria . You can catch up on all the action on World Sailing's eSailing World Championship Facebook page.  Please find World Sailing' Nations Cup Notice of Race here.
