On Friday the Uruguay language academy shared a statement rejecting football player Edinson Cavani's ban of three matches and a £100,000 (US$137,000) fine ruled by The Football Association (FA) in England.

On December 8, US-based software company Red Hat announced plans to shift their focus away from CentOS in favour of CentOS stream. Soon after, CentOS co-founder Gregory Kurtzer announced intention to develop Rocky Linux, to fill the role CentOS had been playing. Wikinews talked with Kurtzer.

'Earth-based life can survive in hydrogen-rich atmospheres': MIT professor Dr Seager tells Wikinews about her research on organisms thriving in oxygen-less environment

In May, a study was published in journal Nature Astronomy, conducted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor Dr Sara Seager and other researchers, showing single-celled organisms like E. coli and yeast can thrive in both 100% hydrogen gas and helium atmospheres. Wikinews discussed the findings with Dr Seager to know more about her research.

US professional wrestler Jon Huber, who performed for WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) under the ring name Luke Harper and for AEW (All Elite Wrestling) under the ring name Brodie Lee, died on Saturday aged 41.
