This page lists proposed article mergers as a supplement to the merge categories; it is an index of ongoing discussions of possible mergers, and does not replace any of the other steps in the merger process. Please add the appropriate merger tag(s) to the articles before listing them here. To see all articles marked for merging, see All articles tagged for merging.

Note[edit]

Mergers of CATEGORIES should not be proposed here. Please see Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
Mergers of TEMPLATES should not be proposed here. Please see Wikipedia:Templates for discussion.
SPLITTING of ARTICLES should not be proposed here. Please see Wikipedia:Proposed article splits.

When to propose a merger[edit]

There are three types of mergers on Wikipedia:

1): Mergers that are so obviously necessary and appropriate that no one is expected to object;
2): Mergers that would benefit from discussion with the other editors at the affected articles' Talk page about whether and/or how to perform the merge; and
3): Mergers that are controversial, potentially difficult to carry out, or where at least one affected article is either rated Class B or higher or is over 100K in size will need assistance from uninvolved editor(s) in determining whether to merge the pages.

If the pages that you would like to merge fall into the type 1 group above, then it is not necessary to propose a merger at all. You should boldly do the merger now, without formally proposing it. (In the event that someone unexpectedly objects, then the merger can be undone easily, and you can formally propose the merger for discussion at that time.)

Merge-arrows.svg

How to propose a merger[edit]

If the merge falls into the type 2 group or type 3 group above, then proposing a merger can be done in three steps (as the proposer, you should still be willing to carry-out a type 2 merge):

  • Step 1: Create a place for discussion. Go to the Talk Page (also known as the discussion page) of the TARGET ARTICLE (the one you want to merge to) and create a section (eg: "Merger proposal") to discuss the merger. If there's already a discussion on the talk page regarding the merger, you can omit this step. Whether the discussion is new or old, make sure the discussion section names all articles involved and links to them. The section name can be anything that includes the word merge (for example ==Merger discussion==).
  • Step 2: Put one of the merger tags at the top of the articles you wish to be merged. The templates {{Merge from}} and {{Merge to}}, or {{merge}} are the most common ones. Remember to make sure that the Discuss link in each tag points to the section you've created in step 1 (this is to prevent having two separate discussions on different talk pages).
  • Step 3: If the proposed merge is type 3 (above) follow the directions under #Requests for merge assistance and feedback to add it to the list.

See: Copy and Paste easy merge templates for easy to follow shortcuts of the above procedure.

Requests for merge assistance and feedback[edit]

If you need outside feedback regarding mergers that are either tricky or of a controversial nature, please do the following:

  • Tag the article as shown above
  • Create a discussion as shown above
  • Notify the talk page of the appropriate Wikiproject to get knowledgeable people to comment on it. (To find out which Wikiproject the page is associated with, check the associated talk page. It should be tagged with a template, such as Wikipedia:WikiProject Ice Hockey.)
  • If there is consensus to merge, but the merge is difficult, request help at Merge Talk for assistance.

For other topics:

  • If you need help with renaming or moving, consult Wikipedia:Moving a page.
  • Cut-and-paste move fixes: If you have moved an article by this deprecated method, then you need to request page histories to be merged; list them at requests for history merge. Please DO NOT perform further moves by cut and paste.

NOTE: Please do not re-list old merge proposals that are already tagged and in the "to Merge" queue (including requests made up to two years ago), as these will be handled as we get to them. -Project Merge

If you need assistance with proposing a merge, list it below and someone will make sure it's properly listed. Note that this will not get the merge completed, as there is a large merge backlog. After a merge is listed properly, move it to the "Answered requests" or "Awaiting consensus" sections below as appropriate.

Merge requests[edit]

NEW REQUESTS[edit]

Please list new requests at the bottom of this section. Use the edit summary and list at least a link to the article to be redirected. Please legitimize your request by signing each listing or comment by typing four tildes (~~~~). Unsigned requests may not be honored.

AWAITING CONSENSUS[edit]

After all involved articles are tagged for merger discussion, the request should be added at (or moved to) the bottom of this section. This section can also be used if a proposal needs further discussion due to age or disagreement. All merger comments and discussions should be directed to the Discussion subsection of the targeted articles' talk page, not here. We will also attempt to get more people to comment on proposals.

A somewhat old proposal that lapsed due to thankfully the hospitals thankfully not in the end being required in the spring, but their possible use in immediate consideration for the Autumn which is how I came across these articles and proposal. There is somewhat of a WP:CFORK ongoing currently and resolving that is probably the main consideration. I've !voted myself at the discussion but do not wish to evaluate the consensus but I do suggest a rapid closure one way or the other. Thankyou. Djm-leighpark (talk) 10:25, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

Merge from Draft:Clan Hunter to Clan Hunter

Editors will see that the Draft article is somewhat different from the extant article. The draft article has been created in good faith by request of the current clan chief, by a member of the clan on her behalf. That editor has asked for assistance in seeking to add the new material to the extant article or replacing old material by new.
I have been approached by the COI editor to see if I can determine a manner in which this can be performed, even if it can be performed.
I think that a requested merge with the foregoing facts disclosed may be an appropriate mechanism.
My nomination is a technical one. I am steadfactly neutral in any discussion about it. I have copied the merge rationale from Talk:Clan Hunter § Request to merge from Draft:Clan Hunter Fiddle Faddle 16:37, 4 October 2020 (UTC)

Merge 2020 United States racial reckoning and 2020 United States racial unrest. This is a malformed mess of a request. The articles were not tagged properly, so discussion happened on two talk pages. It's mainly collecting WP:IDONTLIKEITs from passersby since it wasn't advertised, similar arguments as overcome in the recent AfD. Merge Drumline into Marching percussion. These two articles are just too similar in my opinion. They both go over the same instruments, one being slightly focused on musical roles (drumline) and the other on the actual instrument (marching percussion). I think these two articles (and possibly Front ensemble)) could be combined. If not then the drumline should depart from simply listing instruments to discussing the actual development of the ensemble. What do you guys think? Why? I Ask (talk) 15:07, 2 August 2020 (UTC)

Merge Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen (364k) into Second Saudi–Yemeni War (50k+). Both articles talk about the same thing. I prefer the title of “Second Saudi Yemeni war” over the other since its mostly what’s used today on the internet and in conversations User: Ehoah88880 (talk) 12:42, 23 September 2020 (GTC)

Comment: This is a problematic request: 1) The suggested source article, Saudi Arabian-led intervention in Yemen, is already at 364K+ in size, which means it is wa-a-a-ay past being into splitting territory, not merging; and 2) this article is a B-class rated article, so suggesting it be merged into a C-Class rated article (at 50K size) is probably not even going to be considered. Proposer, @Ehoah88880: should perhaps consider doing a merge in the opposite direction, making Second Saudi–Yemeni War the source article, and then listing the resultant merged article at Wikipedia:Proposed article splits. This request as stated is highly unlikely to gain traction, however, proposer is free to act Boldly—in any of the options listed above—and see what sticks. In the meantime, this is listed as:

Merge Statue of Charles Linn into Charles Linn: I did this merge given the brevity of the first article but was reverted, though the merged material was left in place in the latter article. I don't really see a reason for two articles, especially since the statue article isn't really about it per se but about its removal, presumably because Linn was a confederate officer, which is only explained in his own article. The statue is just another memorial statue of no artistic note. Mangoe (talk) 15:37, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

I did think and am still thinking about it, but I'm very aware through painful experience that "geeky, obsessive hobby" stuff has a tendency to result in angry recriminations, editwarring, lasting resentments, etc., any time major changes are made and someone feels they did not get to have their say. I would rather leave it open for some time, in case a clear rationale against the merge can be made, or an unclear one made and refuted. (PS: I am not picking on stamp collectors in calling them geeky and obsessive; I used to be one, and am still a collector of various other stuff. The very nature of being a collector is geeky and obsessive. >;-)  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  07:52, 1 September 2020 (UTC)

Please complete the merge and redirect of G4 EA H1N1 into Influenza A virus subtype H1N1. Both articles tagged, all Wikiprojects notified, consensus achieved, article content has already been merged, but for the avoidance of conflict, I do not want to complete the redirect myself as I proposed the merge/redirect,[1] and one editor objects. Merge 2020 Major League Baseball All-Star Game into Major League Baseball All-Star Game. The 2020 MLB All-Star Game will never happen and there is already a paragraph in the merge target talking about the cancellation, like how the also-cancelled 2012 New York City Marathon and 2020 New York City Marathon redirects to New York City Marathon and there is total support for merging 2020 Boston Marathon into Boston Marathon. 108.41.60.144 (talk) 13:17, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Merge Gamosa into Gamucha clearly Wikipedia:Content forking, Wikipedia:Duplicate article and Wikipedia:NPOV! Same clothes only local varieties of name, slightly Dif pronunciation fulled n filled by nationalist POV! If high important historical relevant national cloths like Sri Lankan "Osariya" and Bangladeshi "Sharee" can find peace in one and only article Sari then why on earth those POV pushing splitting.–89.0.170.238 (talk) 07:47, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

one more thing, I can see two merger proposals on lungi talk page- one request answered by only 2 Burmese nationalist ip and for new proposal again no response yet- shows clearly how high important those POV pushing duplicate articles are!!–89.0.170.238 (talk) 07:53, 11 July 2020 (UTC)
Not done These appear to be more in the realm of a content dispute, and are better handled at the RFC noticeboard. Proposer can, of course, proceed with BOLD merges and see if they stick. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 08:14, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Please Merge Rapid KL, Public transport in the Klang Valley( Done per discussion.), Transport in Kuala Lumpur( Done per discussion.), and Buses in Klang Valley( Done per discussion.) into Klang Valley Integrated Transit System. All of the abovementioned articles are either duplicates of each other or describe specific components of the Integrated Transit System, and merging all these articles with information already present in the Destination Page, and creating new sections for information not currently present in the Destination Page would centralise all the information about Kuala Lumpur and the Klang Valley Area's public transit system as a whole, and remove any confusion for readers. Thanks! Jh15s (talk) 02:43, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Done per discussion, the other two requests (re: Rapid KL and Klang Valley Integrated Transit System) had consensus decided against merging. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 01:28, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

MERGE 2020 Boston Marathon into Boston Marathon. The 2020 marathon will not happen and there is already a section in the merge target talking about the cancellation, similar to how 2012 New York City Marathon redirects to New York City Marathon#2012 108.21.244.229 (talk) 16:20, 5 June 2020 (UTC)

  • Please Merge History of the Powerhouse Museum into Powerhouse Museum. The History article is relatively short and provides more detail than the current History section on the main Powerhouse Museum article, and a Merge would ensure that the information about the History about the Museum isn't conflicting or self-contradictory. Merge The Rubin Report into Dave Rubin. S. Rich proposed this merge three years ago, though the proposal didn't get much attention. I opposed it at the time, not realizing how exclusive The Rubin Report is to Dave Rubin and how much overlap there is between the information in each article. I now propose that we do in fact merge The Rubin Report into Dave Rubin. The fact that Dave Rubin's Twitter handle is @RubinReport says it all. Michipedian (talk) 20:04, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Not done Only opinion expressed does not favor a merge. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 17:25, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Merge Clube Atlético Bragantino and Red Bull Bragantino. The first article lists the club as a defunct football club, which is incorrect. What was said back then to justify the creation of a new page is that it was a merger between Red Bull and Bragantino, but it was not, since the former actually plays in the state second division, and Bragantino's property remains with the club. What happened was a financial takeover and a rebranding of Bragantino, similar to what has happened twice to Paulista Futebol Clube, which never got a separate article. Same goes for FC Red Bull Salzburg, which retains the history of the club prior to its rebranding. Bragantino is not a defunct club and should Red Bull quit supporting the club financially, it will just go back to its original name and identity. My suggestion is merge the new page into the old one and rename it. Horcoff (talk) 01:34, 24 May 2020 (UTC)

Not done There is no interest expressed one way or the other in this happening. Proposer Horcoff should consider progressing with a BOLD merge at this time. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 17:25, 7 July 2020 (UTC)

Merge Fifteenth Dynasty of Egypt into Hyksos. The Fifteenth Dynasty of Egypt refers to the rulers known as the Hyksos; it is the same as having Ptolemaic Egypt cover the Ptolemaic Dynasty.--Ermenrich (talk) 15:09, 26 June 2020 (UTC)
