As much as I do the "make 100 pots to make 1 good pot" thing, I greatly admire people who just aim for greatness and consistently hit their mark with focus. Rahul only does 1 "topic" a year for the speaking circuit. he ends up telling a supremely confident and structured story.

TIL that the `unload` event is legacy and should never be used, and `beforeunload` shouldn't be added unconditionally: via Phil's excellent article below, 65% of pages use `unload` and it nukes the bfcache 🤯 you can test for cacheability!!

I don't blame the tools. JS is in a unique spot of being a mainstream language running both in the browser and the server, and being used today in a dramatically different way than a decade ago. Growing pains were inevitable. Now, it's time to unify and simplify as said.

I am 100% regretting not inserting "designing" to the above list, which shows you my shocking amount of bias despite constantly telling myself and others how important great brand, product, code design are. 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️

Great recap of the story of to date! the sheer contrast between how well (and comparatively easily) Tailwind is funded vs how the vast majority of open source struggles for funding makes wonder what lessons we can draw. I fear a lot of it cant be replicated
