Simple Singh, MD, MPH

Simple Singh, MD, MPH is an epidemiologist with the Cancer Surveillance Branch (CSB) in CDC’s Division of Cancer Prevention and Control. Dr. Singh leads surveillance data dissemination and promotion activities at CSB, including the premier cancer data source and the official federal cancer statistics, the United States Cancer Statistics (USCS). USCS is CDC’s most comprehensive and complex data system. Dr. Singh also leads the development of the U.S. Cancer Statistics Data Visualizations Tool, which makes comprehensive, federally funded cancer data accessible to wider audiences, including researchers and other sophisticated users, through interactive data visualizations. In addition, she provides epidemiologic expertise related to National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) and cancer surveillance research to leadership. Dr. Singh has consulted with other agencies outside and across CDC for technical and epidemiologic assistance to data dissemination through other resources and data tools.

Dr. Singh earned her medical degree from Lviv State Medical University, in Ukraine, and a Masters in Public Health from Tulane University School of Public Health, in New Orleans. Before coming to CDC in 2008, Dr. Singh worked for Georgia Division of Public Health in Georgia’s Comprehensive Cancer Registry Unit.

In addition to her leadership in cancer surveillance dissemination, Dr. Singh led and collaborated on several epidemiologic and surveillance studies that help promote cancer prevention and healthy living. The main focus of her research has been heath disparities in cancer incidence and mortality, and cancer survival.
