To my colleagues in the media: We need to do better. Much better. The media had a role to play in the rise of Trump. It’s time to hold ourselves accountable.

cool that a woman has to relive her trauma on camera so that we don’t forget the collective horror of something that happened three weeks ago

Y’all stop invalidating ’s experiences because you aren’t hearing about the experiences of other members. Everyone deals with trauma differently, her stories are validating for so many of us with similar experiences and she is showing people that vulnerability is strength.

I'm sitting here after hearing AOC recount her experience on 1/6 & can't help but think of the way this nation responded to Charlottesville. My friends who were there expressed the same trauma & fear - but the country acted like nothing happened. We cannot do that again.

Speaking from experience, the way immigrant children are taught to succeed is to work towards a level of parental approval that is always just slightly out of reach 🤣

Ben kind of gets at it here, ie. Twitter shifts balance towards "star" reporters. True! But it also shifts power towards underrepresented reporters. And that's something often overlooked.

This piece by is illuminating and well reasoned. But I do think something all these "Should journalists tweet?" pieces miss is that Twitter has allowed POC journalists a platform they're often denied in traditional newsrooms.

Big news — this week, Marcela Garcia () becomes a columnist, the first Latina promoted to that position in Globe history. She’s smart, passionate, funny, and now a trailblazer. (Marcela also makes a killer pound cake!)

Black History Month is a chance to remember those who have made enormous contributions to this country, but it's also an opportunity to remember that those contributions didn't just come from major figures. They also came from millions of Black folks whose names we'll never know.

I am so sad for Chloe. I have a song in my heart about how we treat Black women in some sort of public eye when they celebrate their beauty, brilliance or just being happy to be here. Our imaginations about what Black women are so so limited, even sometimes amongst ourselves.
