Support Coordinators

Coordinators are the direct contacts and representatives of PSI in their communities. They are active volunteers who provide social support, information, reassurance, and resources to moms and their families. PSI Coordinators also build connections and support networks with area providers and educators.

Many areas have more than one coordinator, and we welcome you to contact us if you are interested in volunteering as an area coordinator.

The coordinators help families in their recovery from perinatal distress by providing a vision of wellness based on solid information and experience. PSI offers training, materials, and support to assist coordinators in their ability to help the families who contact them. The coordinators do not provide medical advice or evaluation but instead offer names of healthcare providers and resources that provide those clinical services.

Since its start in 1987, PSI has acted on its mission to develop worldwide parent support networks with informed and reliable volunteers. Coordinators provide parent support, advocacy, and community networking but they are not required to be healthcare professionals. Many of our volunteers are men and women who have personally experienced the relief that comes from connecting with an informed and understanding person. We do have many volunteers who also have healthcare careers or education, but they are providing social support when in touch with a family through PSI.

All of the coordinators offer phone or email support and some are able to offer support groups or classes. PSI does not require the coordinator to provide groups but will help you start one by sharing information, materials, and links to other support groups. Coordinators are supported and reminded to volunteer at a pace that is healthy and balanced in their own lives. PSI deeply appreciates each of its coordinators, all of their efforts, and their passion to make a difference in the lives of mothers and families worldwide.
