Andia Chakava has over 17 years’ experience in fund management and 6 years of driving women economic empowerment goals. She is a global thought leader in gender lens investing and is one of the first female fund managers in the region. She has been instrumental in the set up of two fund management companies from scratch in Kenya (Old Mutual Investment Services and Alpha Africa Asset Managers) where she served in each as Managing Director. She is also the lead consultant and co-author of a 2017 research published by the Graça Machel Trust called ‘Growth Barriers Affecting Female Entrepreneurs in East Africa’ and is currently leading the conceptual and founding team to create a gender lens investment vehicle for Africa.
She brings great expertise in pioneering investment products in new markets, business unit management, strategic advisory, investment strategy formulation and implementation, deal sourcing, capital raising, fund and product development, strategic partnership negotiations, project design and management, entrepreneur technical support, gender lens mainstreaming, research formulation and execution, interdisciplinary team leadership, investor relations, network building and advocacy.
