Fauci is in a tough spot. He wants to prevent Trump from doing even more damage - by being in the room when decisions are made. But at this point, the biggest public health benefit he can probably provide is by speaking out to help ensure that Biden is in the room instead.

This is so depressing. Including the word "Black" before Americans in a survey question about protesters causes a 37% decline in support for protests among Republicans who trust Fox News compared to just the word "Americans." There was a 25% decline for Republicans as a whole.

Imagine publicly acknowledging that someone is inciting far-right militia violence and still admitting you might vote for that person.

I knew there was no formal RNC platform, but I always figured they would at least have something in place like "Continue to build the wall," or other meaningless platitudes. But the disdain shown for the country that he doesn't even think he needs to say what he would do...wow.

I hadn't realized this, but Trump's website literally doesn't have a policy platform. The about section is a bio. The promises kept stuff is about his first term. There is nothing on the campaign site about what he would do if re-elected. His cult of personality reigns supreme.

Tells you a lot that Trump's strategy to get re-elected revolves around spreading a series of insane lies about his opponents and convincing people that mail-in ballots are rigged (they are not). Nothing about how he's going to prevent pandemic deaths or repair the economy.

  18. I love this. Texas Governor tried to suppress voting by limiting early voting to one drop-off box per county. Nonetheless, Texas voters are casting early ballots at an unprecedented rate. No matter how hard Republicans try to make it for you, make your voice heard.

It's all just so cynical, craven, and predictable: the Republicans who publicly praised Trump over his first term and enabled him at every opportunity are those who suddenly say that they privately opposed him now that it's two weeks before they face a tough path to re-election.

The wall will not "soon be finished." In fact, only five miles of new wall have been built in places where no barrier previously existed. Five. And how many miles did Mexico pay for? Zero.
