I am a volunteer and a donor. The passion that ILEHC has for its mission and the care that is provided to the horses is remarkable. Each horse receives attention, nutrition, medical and blacksmith care without exception. There are a number of horses in this rescue organization but each one is treated as #1. The President along with the Board and Volunteers make this organization what it is - top notch. I am happy to volunteer and also make donations as able. Thanks Gail for what you do - everyday!

The ILEHC is a wonderful organization. Gail and the volunteers are absolutely amazing because they care for these horses. When I have the opportunity to go see the horses, I look forward to it; it makes my day.

I have always loved horses. As I have gotten older I have wanted to be able to volunteer my time in a place that cared for horses. Ilehc does not disappoint. The organization has given second chances to some stellar horses. The board is knowledgeable and proactive in meeting the needs of the animals. The facility is always clean and well organized.

I have loved every minute of volunteering at the ILEHC! I have learned so much and I am really thankful for Gail! She is so passionate about horses and the care that they receive on a daily basis! She is willing to take the time to teach new volunteers the ins and outs of caring for the horses. SHE IS AWESOME!

The most important point for me is that ILEHC fills a niche in that it rescues horses that would likely not be in any position to be rescued if an organization like ILEHC didn't exist. I'm not the hugest fan of horses but over the course of my tenure of volunteering I've come to appreciate them, and have come to adore interacting with them. As a sidenote, the barn cats are also quite amazing, and I think that all of the animals are as they are is all a credit to the president and founder of ILECH, Gail Vacca.

ILEHC's president, Gail, is so passionate about the care of abused horses that it has inspired me to devote a majority of my free time to care of these beauties. Rain or shine, hot or cold she faithfully serves them 7 days a week.

My role as a volunteer is groundskeeper and I am grateful that Gail allows me to serve in this manner. ILEHC provides a place of solitude and safety for each beautiful horse that otherwise would still be suffering unimaginable grief and abuse.

ILEHC is a wonderful horse rescue. With the most loving and caring founder Gail Vacca. The volunteers are as caring and passionate as well. Each horse gets the individual attention it needs. I personally will continue to support and contribute to ILEHC. I love going to visit when I can. Keep up the great work of love! Dolores Dover

The Illinois Equine Humane Center (ILEHC) is a horse rescue and rehabilitation not for profit that cares for horses that have been rescued from slaughter or abused/neglected horses that were being starved to near death. All of the donations received are used 100% for the care of the horses, as overhead expenses are $0, given the people give of their time to care and feed the horses.
