Tim Nicol manages Pew’s work in Western Australia’s Kimberley region. He oversees joint campaigns to create new marine and national parks, such as the Great Kimberley Marine Park, and Pew’s support for the region’s Indigenous Ranger and Indigenous Protected Area programs. He also directs Pew’s efforts to protect the Kimberley’s Fitzroy River, Australia’s last large, free-flowing river system.

Before joining Pew, Nicol was the coordinator and media spokesman for the Save Our Marine Life alliance, which helped establish the country’s first network of marine parks and sanctuaries. Previously, he was the resources liaison officer for the Conservation Council of Western Australia. He began his career as an ocean engineer working in offshore construction and design.

He has a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Australian Maritime College and lives in Perth.
