    Even more stark figures - Past 30 years, 40% increase in population, 40% decrease in bed stock. Huge shift to Day Care has been safety valve. Staff exhausted and demoralized. There is only one solution to the trolley crisis: more hospital beds & more staff

    starting ward round. We will not make real progress in transforming urgent care pathways/systems if we have emergency care running on a stopwatch and social/community health on a calendar. Serious investment needed in those services as NHS delayed transfers rise exponentially

    I’ve not received three letters for appointments and subsequently have missed them only to find out afterwards and I’m aware of how the system function...this is not a simple problem

    Surprising how many patients tell me they never received an appointment. Usually write to DNAs and ask them to get in touch as to why didn't come to clinic

    That is exactly what happens. We build in DNAs when organising clinic slots. The story is nonsense. There’s simply not enough money and that is & decision and responsibility.

    7.9 million 'did not attends' exceeded by 8.3 million appts cancelled by . And DNAs can be due to pts not being aware- infrastructure crumbling.
