PROFILE

Jim Palardy identifies and develops research projects in science and economics that can inform research-driven policy recommendations. He also contributes technical expertise to Pew’s ongoing environmental projects and strategic planning efforts.

Before joining Pew, Palardy was a consultant for Abt Associates, where he conducted technical research and provided regulatory support for several government agencies, including the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Fish and Wildlife Service. While at Abt, he led research efforts to project the biological and economic effects of climate change and ocean acidification on global coral reefs and on shellfish harvested commercially in the Gulf of Maine and Puget Sound.

Palardy holds a bachelor’s degree in biology and marine science from the University of Pennsylvania and a doctorate in ecology and evolutionary biology from Brown University.
