Recent events have outraged the country and put a spotlight on the structures in place that create unequal and sometimes devastating outcomes for people of color. It is important, now more than ever, that we look at ourselves and what we can do to address these important issues.
NCOE has a long-standing commitment to the cause of social justice and working to create equitable environments for all students. Striving for social justice is central to the work of public education and it should be central to everything we do.
Equity, recognizing individual differences and eliminating barriers, is a core value of NCOE. We define Social Justice as fair and just relations between individuals and society, as measured by the distribution of wealth, opportunities for personal activity, and social privileges.
