Napa County Teacher Induction Program

What We Do
We provide a two year induction program to clear both General Education and Education Specialist preliminary credentials. As well as earning your clear credential, we offer 6 units from Sonoma State University at minimal cost for your participation in the program for advancement on your salary schedule.

How We Do It
Working with a dedicated Mentor, you will meet on a regular basis to:

  • grow the practice of teaching and learning,
  • set and meet your site and district goals,
  • learn to navigate professional responsibilities and workload, and
  • celebrate student success!

What You Do
During the course of your Induction Program, you will:

  • develop your teaching practice through individually designed inquiry work
  • participate in classroom observations,
  • measure your growth over time, and
  • explore a variety of professional development opportunities.

This course, offered for the past twelve years, covers the basics of components of curriculum and varied formats for planning curricular delivery through the development of an annual plan.

What is Induction?

Induction is a 2 year program, approved by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC), offered to clear preliminary California teaching credentials. Induction programs provide on-site, job embedded mentoring to support growth in the California Standards for the Teaching Profession (CSTPs).

Who is eligible for Napa County Teacher induction Program?

Teachers holding a preliminary teaching credential (General Education and Education Specialists), and are employed part or full time as a teacher of record in Napa County. If you have questions about the status of credentials you hold in California or your renewal requirements, please visit www.ctc.ca.gov to view your California credentials.

How do I enroll in Induction?

If eligible, your employer’s Human Resources department will provide you with a welcome packet, including:

  • Welcome Letter
  • Candidate Application for enrollment
  • Informational Flyer
  • Calendar of Induction Sessions

What does the Napa County Teacher Induction Program provide?

I participated in Induction before but did not complete the program, what do I do?

Please contact the Napa County Teacher Induction office for further direction at (707) 253-3944.

I have completed induction before to clear a different credential, and now have earned an additional credential. Do I need induction?

If you already possess a California Clear Teaching Credential in Single Subject, Multiple Subject, and/or as an Education Specialist, you do not need to enroll in induction. Your additional credential should post as “clear” on the CTC site. Please go to www.ctc.ca.gov to check the status of your credential and contact our office with any additional questions.
