Wikimedia Café

  • Café Mélange, a coffeehouse in Vienna.
  • This photograph was taken in the city of Takamatsu, Kagawa prefecture, Japan. This building is at Takamatsu Castle. It appears to be the Hiun-kaku (披雲閣), a Taishō-period building on the site of the original of the same name.
  • A Chaikhaneh (tea house) close to the Zendan-e Eskandar (Alexander the great’s prison) at Yazd. Its location underground allows to spend some wonderful moments in a cool ambiance, refreshed by the flow of the water in the central pool.
  • Sèvres Porcelain Manufactory (France, Sèvres, founded 1756-present), Etienne-Jean Chabry (France, active 1764-1787, before 1749-after 1787)
  • Bowl of macha green tea and small sweet on an oribe plate, at the Tōsui-an (陶翠庵) tea house at the Aichi Prefectural Ceramic Museum. The chawan is Ido type by Yamada Kazutoshi (山田和俊), the Oribe ware plate is from the ceramic craft studio of the museum done by staff.

  • Photo post-card by V. Derounian, 1930, of an elderly inhabitant of a Beehive village in Aleppo's district in northern Syria, sipping the traditional bitter murra Arabic coffee and smoking a cigarette. His over-coat is lined with wool, and serves as a mattress and a blanket (sleeping bag) when traveling, and known locally as furwa, and hence the western word of "fur". The black Kaffiya on his head conserves the heat from the sun in the cold climate of the north.
  • The Coffee Bearer, a painting by John Frederick Lewis (1805–1876)
  • Free pouring of latte art at Doppio Ristretto in Chiang Mai. The artist won several championships in Australia and came in 6th at the world championship in 2011. This is his signature latte art: angel surfing on waves.

The Wikimedia Café provides a forum for voice and video discussion of issues of broad interest among Wikimedia community editors.

Every meeting starts with attendees briefly introducing themselves, any wiki affiliations they wish to share, their interest in attending this meeting, and sharing one thing for which they are grateful. This is a friendly meeting and attendees should practice good conduct.

Anyone can take notes about this meeting in the shared etherpad notes. The copyright license for these notes is compatible with Meta-wiki. These notes will go into Meta after the meeting. At every meeting the attendees review and confirm the notes from the last meeting.

The meeting is currently hosted by User:Pine and/or User:Bluerasberry using Zoom Video Communications software. Attendees should be aware of Zoom as a non-Wikimedia, non-free commercial product with limitations. The primary language of the meeting is English.
