4S/EASST Conference to Go All Virtual

04/04/2020

Given future scenarios of the current pandemic and related restrictions in global mobility, we concluded that it is not reasonable any longer to (techno)optimistically keep organizing the physical event in Prague. From the three options on the table – to cancel, postpone or go virtual, we decided on the third option. We will migrate the event to the virtual timespace and it will take place in the planned dates of August 18-21, 2020.

New: Technoscience Podcast

Listen to the first of a new series of STS podcasts with Andrea Ballestero (Rice University) being interviewed by Alison Kenner (Drexel University).

Dear STSers,

I am writing only about COVID-19 today. Our Wisconsin governor has canceled all schools K-12, public and private.  The university is still teaching and meeting, but only online.  All the students who can leave have left.  We have no face-to-face faculty meetings, job interviews, etc.  All university-sponsored travel is canceled.  

Many countries, including the U.S., have closed their/our borders to travel. Like South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, and China, many European countries have...

Resolution to Expand 6S Voting Rights

The proposed change gives Council voting privileges to 2nd and 3rd year 6S representatives.  The proposed change was approved unanimously by the 4S Council and unanimously, with a small amendment, at the 4S Business Meeting.  Please vote by 4 October.

Making & Doing Awards Announced at New Orleans Meeting

09/20/2019

The Making and Doing session at the New Orleans meeting was a grand success. The Prize committee, consisting of Endre Dányi, Laura Forlano, Gwen Ottinger, Martin Perez Comisso, Wen-Ling Tu, and Teun Zuiderent-Jerak, selected three STS Making and Doing awards and two projects deserving an honourable mention, out of 43 contributions.
