Global Impact Investing Network

The Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN) works to support impact investing, focusing on both increasing the overall quantity of investments being made in the impact field as well as the effectiveness of these investments. Their goal is to help foster a coherent impact investing industry that channels investment capital efficiently and accelerates the development of solutions to pressing social and environmental problems.

The GIIN’s programs are concentrated in four key areas of field-building:

  • Building and supporting a global membership network for organizations interested in developing or expanding their impact investment practice
  • Promotion and support for impact measurement as a best practice of impact investing, including management of IRIS, a free online catalog of generally-accepted performance metrics used by impact investors to measure performance
  • Aggregating and developing key investor resources, including an online knowledge center and ImpactBase, the online global directory of impact investment funds and products
  • Providing market leadership, including convening the GIIN Investors' Council, a leadership group for large-scale investors, as well as publishing issue briefs, case studies, and quantitative research about impact investing
