  • Elder Law/Medical Planning

At some point, most families encounter legal and practical concerns in caring for elderly loved ones. An experienced elder law attorney from Meyer & Spencer, PC can assist you in planning for the future through powers of attorney and advance directives to ensure proper medical treatment is provided. We can also advise on other funding options that foster the most security in the event an elderly loved one requires nursing home care.

  • Estate Planning/Trusts

Estate plans and trusts are established to provide a roadmap directing how an individual’s personal and financial affairs should be handled after his or her death, or in the event of incapacity. Your estate plan should also protect and preserve your assets to the greatest extent possible, so they may be passed to your loved ones rather than consumed by taxes and health care costs. We work with clients to create and implement customized estate plans and trusts.

  • Real Estate

Our real estate attorneys represent institutional lenders and handle commercial and residential real estate transactions on behalf of buyers and sellers. With decades of experience handling real estate transactions, we more than understand the ins and outs of buying and selling property, and we are familiar with a wide range of real estate professionals in Westchester and Putnam counties, including brokers, inspectors, appraisers, and insurance agents.

  • Probate/Estate Administration

If you have recently lost a loved one, it is important to speak with an experienced probate and estate administration attorney, especially if you have been named an executor or trustee. The probate process can be complex and time consuming, and you have a tremendous fiduciary responsibility to handle the estate’s affairs properly. At Meyer & Spencer, PC, we assist clients through all phases of probate and estate administration.

  • Guardianship

Authority to handle legal, financial, and medical decisions for another may require a guardianship. We assist clients in helping them obtain such authority and exercise it pursuant to New York law. If your loved one has become incapacitated without a medical or financial plan in place, or if you care for a minor child or adult with disabilities, we can help you establish the requirements for guardianship and guide you through guardianship administration.
