MOSIP is a modular, open-source platform designed to help countries implement a digital, foundational identity system. MOSIP makes designing a new system cost-effective for countries, and helps them leverage the best practices of scalability, security, and privacy. 

Morocco is the first to use MOSIP to implement its national population register for delivering social safety programs to its citizens. The International Institute of Information Technology—Bangalore (IIIT-B), a research institution with significant success building systems at the intersection of technology and public interest, is developing the platform.

In addition to Omidyar Network, Tata Trusts and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation are also supporting the tool’s development and consultative process. MOSIP will be available as a free public good at www.MOSIP.io.
