    I spoke with on what they say is the best way you can donate to save lives during the coronavirus pandemic. It doesn’t have much to do with the coronavirus specifically. It’s sending money for antimalarials to stop kids dying of malaria.

    We and HKI thus expect HKI to have more impact by working in another state where coverage is lower. HKI is planning to redirect its funding to do so—after confirming via a baseline survey that the current coverage in the new state is indeed low. 4/5

    We asked HKI to conduct a baseline survey before starting its GiveWell-supported work in Bauchi State to see how many people had been reached by a recent campaign. It came back with a surprisingly high coverage rate: 86%. 3/5

    In late 2019, we allocated funding to HKI to support vitamin A supplementation (VAS) campaigns in Bauchi State, Nigeria. Based on 2018 survey data, it looked like there was a lot of room to increase the number of people who received VAS there. 2/5
