vivid colors[edit]

Does this template make any sense apart of "let have something with vivid colors" feeling? Why an ordinary category isn't sufficient? What is advantage of distracting a reader with colored box? Woudn't it be better to contribute with text into article? Pavel Vozenilek 19:30, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

That's exactly what I thought, too. But then I asked myself "why should this template be deleted?", and figured out that I do not have a firm answer to that question, so I didn't submit it to WP:TfD. Feel free to do it yourself, I'll support you. --Dijxtra 19:33, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
If you suggest it by {{db}} as author with explanation it may get deleted w/o hassle. Pavel Vozenilek 22:21, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
I'm not the author. --Dijxtra 23:22, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Oops, I got confused. Apology. Pavel Vozenilek 01:22, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
No problem. So, what shall we do? Put it on TfD? The more I think the more it seems to me it is quite useless. Do we have a List of tributaries to Danube? Seems like we don't. We could transform this template to list and then delete it... --Dijxtra 11:56, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes. List would be very useful as it could be sorted and gives context. This may be also category (being tributary is one of more important characteristics for a river). The template may be submitted to TfD later or just left as it is and in few years someone will add it to TfD. Pavel Vozenilek 12:53, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Here: List of tributaries to Danube. I started it, and will probably finish it tommorrow or maybe even today, if I find time. I took list of tributaries from Danube article, and will try to find more sources so we can make a full list. When the full list is made, it'd be nice to put all of the rivers from the list to Category:Danube tributaries, or something. --Dijxtra 14:20, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

I added some more info, including the now redundant Template:Danube Countries. No need for multiple nav boxes, but it's nice to link cities, countries and tributaries. ~ trialsanderrors 23:58, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Criteria for inclusion[edit]

I added the following criteria for inclusion:

  • Countries need to be internationally recognized and at least border the Danube
  • Cities should have at least a population of 100,000
  • Tributaries should be at least 200km in length

Cities or tributaries that don't meet these criteria should be historically, geographically or politically notable, and the articles should be more than stubs. Passau is included under these conditions. ~ trialsanderrors 21:29, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

And cities must have city status. --Goran.Smith2 16:51, 4 September 2006 (UTC)

I've added Cernavodă: small but important city. Here begins the Danube-Black Sea Canal. Sulina: Old important port, seat of the Danube Commission. --Alex:Dan 04:12, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
Are Štúrovo (pop 11k), Ilok (pop 8k), Bačka Palanka (60k), Bechet (pop 5k) and Corabia (pop 22k) very notable? I think they should be removed from the template. Markussep Talk 15:58, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

Danube Crossings[edit]

Im gonna add a section at the bottom, entitled See also. This will contain List of crossings of the Danube River. Is everyone cool with that? Great. Also, the page Im adding could really use work, and if anyone has knowledge in that area I would really appreciate it. Thanks --DerRichter (talk) 03:37, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
