During Friday's White House press conference, the CDC and surgeon general updated their guidance on face coverings, advising citizens wear cloth masks when outside their homes. These do not need to be medical grade masks, and people should continue to self-isolate, social distance and continually and thoroughly wash their hands.

Mask producer 3M pushes back against Trump order to stop exporting to other markets

Medical device maker 3M challenged a White House order on Friday that it cease exporting N95 respiratory masks produced in the United States to markets in Canada and Latin America. In a statement, the Minnesota-based company indicated that doing so would raise humanitarian concerns, in addition to possibly limiting the number of masks available to health care providers tackling the ongoing COVID-19 crisis in the US.
