Yes In My Back Yard.

California YIMBY is a community of neighbors who welcome more neighbors. We say “Yes In My Back Yard”—yes to affordable housing, yes to inclusive, equitable communities, yes to opportunity, and yes to more neighbors!

We work with housing policy experts, elected officials, and grassroots organizations across California to craft and pass legislation at the state and local level that will help accelerate home building, solve the affordable housing crisis, and reduce climate pollution.

Our current housing policies have set up a lose-lose situation, where cities enforce a severe shortage of affordable homes through laws that restrict home building — forcing Californians to compete with each other for sparse, and increasingly expensive, housing.

We’re growing a statewide, grassroots movement and supporting local YIMBY organizations that advocate for more affordable housing for people of all income levels.

With over 75,000 members and 25 volunteer teams across the state, California YIMBY is the largest and fastest-growing housing advocacy organization in California. From Humboldt to San Diego, California YIMBY organizers are engaging voters, homeowners, renters, businesses, civic leaders, faith communities, affordable housers, and changing the conversation about housing.

Our popular, pragmatic solutions are grounded in rigorous research — and get results: In our first three years, we’ve helped pass 5 major housing bills. And we’re just getting started.
