KDZR (1640 AM, "The Patriot") is a radio station broadcasting a conservative talk format. Licensed to Lake Oswego, Oregon, United States, the station serves the Portland area. The station is currently owned by Salem Media Group.[1]

Like most affiliates, KDZR has local programming on weekends.[citation needed] They run public affairs programming that addresses the needs of the community. The station has lots of remote events where they have games and prizes for local listeners.[citation needed]

History[edit]

The station went on the air as KKJY on October 20, 1997. On November 1, 1999, the station changed its call sign to KPBC; & on February 14, 2003 to the current KDZR.[2]

On August 13, 2014, Disney put KDZR and 22 other Radio Disney stations up for sale, in order to focus more on digital distribution of the Radio Disney network.[3][4]

On September 15, it was announced that Salem Media Group acquired the last five Radio Disney owned-and-operated stations for sale (including KDZR) for $2.225 million.[5] KDZR was acquired through Salem Media of Oregon, Inc., for $275,000.[6]

The sale was completed on December 4, 2015[7] and KDZR changed their format to conservative talk, branded as "Talk 1640".[8]

On April 2, 2018 KDZR rebranded as "AM 1640 The Patriot".[9]
