Survey Data Analysis for Development Summer Training Programme

We offer short courses in survey data analysis. Short courses are a great way to acquire new skills or to enhance/refresh your existing skills. The 2020 summer programme will run in January and February on the Middle Campus at the University of Cape Town. Our courses have a strong practical component and teaching takes place in a computer lab. Registered university students qualify for discounts.

Understanding complex social survey data

This course is aimed at postgraduate students (Masters and Ph.D.), researchers, and officials in state agencies wanting to analyse social surveys using Stata. It explains the complex nature of the sample design of household surveys, including unequal probabilities of selection and weighting, clustering and stratification. It also covers calibration, variance estimation, data quality and (briefly) imputation.

Science for Development: Building bridges across disciplines

An interdisciplinary workshop on “Science for Development” jointly hosted by the International Science Council’s (ISC) Regional Office for Africa (ROA) and the International Astronomical Union’s (IAU) Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) will run on 30 - 31 January 2020. Registration is free and closes on 31 October 2019.
