We believe in the power of education and making our public schools strong. This means ensuring public schools have adequate funding for our children to succeed, making college more affordable, expanding early learning opportunities, holding for-profit charter schools accountable, and ensuring that hardworking teachers are compensated fairly.
We believe we can pave the way to economic growth and opportunity by making overdue investments in fixing our decaying roads, bridges and water systems. It will mean shovel-ready jobs for Michigan in the short term while attracting more businesses that will bring in good paying jobs for the long term.
We believe in shared economic prosperity. Every hardworking Michigander, regardless of their zip code, should have the opportunity to make a better future for themselves and their families. We can get there with policies that ensure access to affordable health care, invest in job training programs and apprenticeships, support a livable wage, protect Social Security and Medicare from benefit cuts, defend our unions, and demand equal pay for equal work for women.
We are committed to protecting our environment because the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the natural resources we enjoy are all vital to our health and quality of life, and to our children. That’s why we support investments in clean and safe drinking water, renewable energy like wind and solar, holding big polluters accountable & protecting the long-term health of the Great Lakes.
We support meaningful criminal justice reform, restoring the Voting Rights Act, ending the school to prison pipeline, protecting all Michiganders from discrimination, improving police-community relations, and fighting for Dreamers and humane immigration reform. Regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, immigration status, or age, we believe Michigan can be a welcome and inclusive home to all.
We believe access to quality, affordable health care is a right, not a privilege reserved only for those who can afford it. That means defending the Affordable Care Act and its protections for all those with pre-existing conditions, building on the ACA’s work to lower costs and cover millions & defending the Medicaid Expansion that covered 630,000 Michiganders in need and added over $2 billion to the economy.
We are committed to lifting up those stories and communicating with voters about the importance of getting out and voting for the progressive leaders who can make real change. Our core values are fundamental to our work as an organization, and include creating shared economic prosperity, building strong public schools, addressing climate change, and supporting social and racial justice.
