    Civic tech is genuinely fantastic and worthwhile but it can often lure people who just want to build. That’s understandable; everyone wants to be a builder of amazing new things. But what government really needs is MAINTAINERS and IMPROVERS. Those who build on others’ work.

    Exactly why continuing to draft privacy legislation that draws firm boundaries between "sensitive" and "non-sensitive" data is nonsensical!

    My work is ft seemingly banal data allows intimate inferences on health, race, gender, sex orient & political views. We need a right to reasonable AI inferences & new AI bias protection

    It seriously annoys me how much tech cos and those representing them are valued in tech policy conversations. It speaks to the prevalence of the false "prodigal tech bro" narrative that only those who participated in creating the harm, once reformed, will be able to stop it.

    Absolutely. Let's hold accountable to our democracy—and if Zuck & co. can't bring themselves to recognize their wrongs and right them, we have to regulate them.
