We believe in markets and capitalism. However, while simultaneously creating significant benefits for humanity, markets – as we have allowed them to evolve over the last 50 years – have also generated increasingly untenable inequities across economic, racial, and geographic lines.

The rules, incentives, and balance of power in the current economic system too often reward the few at the expense of many, reinforcing harmful inequalities. At Omidyar Network, we work to address the underlying ideas, norms, and policies contributing to this status quo, in order to help shape a new, inclusive economy where the benefits of capitalism and markets serve the broader interests of people and society.
