The Accommodation, Catering and Events (ACE) team at the University of Edinburgh has been recognised for its commitment to its staff.

ACE has again secured the internationally recognised Investor in People (IIP) Silver Award, with judges highlighting it as a “great place to work” that
delivers an excellent customer experience through commitment to its staff.

IIP, an international standards body recognises businesses that provide a positive work environment for their staff.

Richard Kington, director of ACE, said: “IIP highlights businesses with the highest standards, so to have been accredited yet again is testament to the excellent team we have at ACE.

“We are fully committed to the health and wellbeing of the team and are proud of the innovative learning culture at ACE, a proactive approach that is adopted and supported at all levels and all parts of the organisation. People feel empowered to question things and provide feedback, regardless of how long they have been a part of the team.”

The assessment took place at ACE’s main offices and sites across Edinburgh and included reviews of its systems and processes, as well as interviews with staff members. ACE employs 797 staff assisted by 212 Student Resident Assistants across 23 sites. It is a remarkable achievement having excelled in the categories, ‘Living the Organisation’s Values and Behaviours’, ‘Managing Performance’, ‘Structuring Work’, ‘Building Capability’ and ‘Delivering Continuous Improvement’.

Mr Kington added: “The commitment to our staff is clearly recognised through this award which provides an independent, strong endorsement that a continued focus on staff needs is imperative in our organisational objectives. I know the team constantly strive for excellence and will continue to demonstrate why they deserve this accolade.”
